I know it's overused, but we all know it's true that in order to continue to grow, we have to let go.
Not only is this universal truth applicable to every single aspect of human beings, but we also find it surrounding us in nature.
Letting go is often referred to as 'dying to' and in
order to facilitate life and growth, some part of us has to die before newness can emerge.
Most times, letting go is physically painful, emotionally confusing, and mentally disorienting, but
knowing that the 'pain' is temporary and purposeful, when we do experience 'growing pains', it will allow us to affirm that change and growth are taking place.
When we look to nature, we find examples of release all around us! Like the butterfly that prior to spreading her wings in her newly found freedom from the past, surrounds herself in a protective cocoon while transformation happens.
If you're able to feel deeply through any pain you're currently experiencing, the pain can serve the same purpose to set you free.
On the yoga mat, we develop an 'emotional-fitness'
which aids us in 'sitting with' strong emotions as they pass through us.
Our practice emboldens us to bid fair well to old traumas, old thoughts, and stuck emotions, welcoming new parts of us that are ready to be born.
Life is at times inspiring as well s exhausting, exhilarating as well as filled with anguish and sadness but the more we're able to feel deeply through it all, the stronger we become.
I wish I could tell you that what lies ahead of you will be easy, but that would not be accurate. I wish I could tell you that there will be no more pain, but that would simply be a lie.
What I can tell you is, that you can handle it, and life only requires the strength you already possess.
And, the practice of yoga is an incredible ally in stewarding all of us through this earthly sojourn ;-)
